Minnie Evans Furgerson

Mrs. Minnie Evans Furgerson, 79, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at a Huntsville hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Tennessee and a long-time resident of Brewton, before moving to Sylvania several years ago. She was retired from T.R. Miller Mill Company with 23 years of service and was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Furgerson Sr.; her son, Marvin Furgerson Jr. and three sisters, Nola Rucks, Ada Stegall and Linnie Evans.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Furgerson and Carolyn (Robert) Portwood, both of Sylvania; a son-in-law, Kenneth Nix of Brewton; two sisters, Johnn Tucker of Trion, Ga., and Bertha Kirby of East Brewton; four grandchildren and six great-granchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Caylor officiating. Burial followed in Weaver Cemetery in Appleton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
