Mr. Willie D. Nearer, 69, died Monday, March 21, 2005. He was a member of St. Marks Baptist Church and had been employed by Brewton Iron Works for more than 30 years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Bonner Nearer and two brothers, Earl Nearer and Issac Nearer.
He is survived by his children, Willie (Wanda) Nearer of Anniston, Ethel (Bernard) Folmer of Brewton, Donald (Debra) Nearer of Montgomery, and Andrew (Niece) Nearer of Huntsville; eight brothers and sisters, Walter Nearer, Paul (Queen) Nearer and Bessie Andrews, all of Brewton, Gloria Brown Nearer of Texas, Mary Bell Bonner and Pauline Nearer; seven grandchildren, Catherine, Ashley, Donald, William, Zetta, Donavan and Joseph and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, at noon at Triumph Church with the Rev. L. Stallworth officiating. Burial followed at First Marietta Baptist Cemetery with Jones' Mortuary, Inc. of Evergreen directing.
