A Brewton man will face a jury next month on charges that he attempted to murder a woman last January.
Billy Calvin Stallworth, 31, of 905 Hamilton Ave. in Brewton, was charged with the attempted murder of Andrea B. Lane, 30, of St. Nicholas Avenue.
Officials responded to Lane's residence on Jan. 20, 2001 where they found her lying on the living room floor suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
Lane was transported by ambulance to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital where she was treated.
According to officials, Lane was watching rented movie videos with two friends on the night of the stabbing. Lane allegedly went to her room where she was attacked and stabbed. One of the friends ran out of the trailer and called the police. Both friends were on the scene when police officers arrived on the scene.
Lane and Stallworth had allegedly been involved in a relationship at some point prior to the attack.
According to officials, Lane identified the attacker as Stallworth. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder on the same day.
A jury will hear the case on Monday, March 10 in courtroom one at the Escambia County Courthouse. He will be represented by Charles E. Johns.
