A slight rise in unemployment has been reported by the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations. Alabama's jobless rate moved from 7.8 percent in February to 7.9 percent in March.
W.S. Neal Future Homemakers of America Chapter delegates attended the State FHA Convention at the Civic Center, Montgomery, April 12.
Dr. George McCormick was elected chairman of the United Way fund-drive. Other officers include Carlton Blackburn, Johnny Byrd, Marshall Craver, and Irene Murray. New board members are Phillip Parker, Charles Ballard and Tom Kerins.
New officers of the T.R. Miller Student Council include Glenda Sellers, president; Ron Moody, vice president; LaQuette Donaldson, secretary; Paul Fay, treasurer; and Rhonda Coburn, chaplain.
The Thomas E. McMillan Museum at Jefferson Davis State Junior College has been awarded a contract from the Alabama Historical Commission to preserve, identify and partially re-exhibit objects in collections of Fort Morgan Museum which were damaged by Hurricane Frederic.
