Mr. David Eugene Newby, 58, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at his residence in Atmore after a brief illness. He was a native of Andalusia, and a long time resident of Brewton, before moving to Atmore. He was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church and a retired truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Clinner of Atmore; his grandmother, Bertie Lee Newby of Opp; four sons, Josh Newby of Oklahoma, and John F. Newby, Cilton Ray Newby and Royce E. Newby, all of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; one stepson, Brady Pellegrin of Atmore; two daughters, Candace Newby of Big Cabin, Okla., and Nakisha Buckaloo of Pryor, Okla.; four brothers, Jerry E. Newby and Larry Chisum, both of East Brewton, Johnny Newby of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Terry Chisum of Brewton; one sister, Virginia Abston of Brewton; five grandchildren, Dakota Buckaloo, Budgle Cameron, Justin Cameron, Penny Buckaloo and Coy Buckaloo, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grindle officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
