Mr. James Burns, 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005. He was a native of Brewton and a member of Old Springhill Primitive Baptist Church. He was retired from CSX Railroad as a safety supervisor with 30 years of service.
He is survived by four daughters, Jetter Burns (Cedric) Brown of Birmingham, and Melissa Burns (Tim) Berry, Sabrina McCall and Margaret (Richard) Betts, all of Brewton; two sons, Keith Burns of Atlanta, Ga. and Jerald Burns of Chicago, Ill.; five sisters, Betty (Eugene) Howard and Gussie McQueen, both of Brewton, Ella B (Andre) Asberry and Cheryl Burns, both of Birmingham, and Brenda Burns of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Willie Payne of Brewton, and Thomas (Judy) Burns Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Lauren Brown, Quentin Brown, Trevor Burns, Taylor Burns, Joshua Berry, LaKeshia Betts and Jerrius Burns; his ex-wife and devoted friend, Geraldine Burns and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 26, at noon at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Norman Miller officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
