The Escambia County Habitat for Humanity recently completed the organizations latest project in the “Brush With Kindness” program.
The recipient of the project work was Zanobia Dale, a resident of Martin Luther King Drive in Brewton.
“We are happy to have been able to take on this project and make a difference in this home for the homeowners,” Shae Hines, ECHFH Board President said. “With the help of volunteers, we were able to take on this project and see it completed in just a few days.”
Hines said the project encompassed replacing the entire roof on the home, a much-needed repair for the homeowner.
“We were able to get the shingle roof replaced with a tin roof,” Hines said. “We also had to replace some rotted wood before putting on the new roof. The tin roof will provide long-lasting protection to the home.”
Hines said the volunteers who made the work possible were made up of residents of Brewton and Atmore.
“We rely on volunteer help with all of our projects,” Hines said. “When we take on a project of repairs, renovations or new builds, the volunteers who help us are helping homeowners as well. Keeping expenses as low as possible allows us to provide quality work at reasonable prices helping us to provide more help for those in need of affordable housing in the county.”
ECHFH’s Brush With Kindness program is designed to provide critical repairs for those with limited financial means to make those repairs.
“We are accepting applications for our ‘Brush With Kindness’ repair program,” Hines said. “We have a committee that evaluates each application and determines how great the need is for the homeowner. As we have financial ability, our organization will help make arrangements to have those critical repairs taken care of for the homeowner.”
